WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Hamilton Place Strategies (HPS) announced that Lauren Claffey joined the firm as a managing director and Lloyd Miller joined the firm as a senior director.
Lauren Claffey joins HPS after founding Claffey Communications, a strategic communications and public affairs firm that has advised members of Congress, executive branch Cabinet members, and Fortune 500 company executives on issues ranging from corporate social responsibility to crisis communications. Previously, she ran strategic communications at the United States Department of Homeland Security as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs. In that capacity, she led communications strategies around major homeland security issues, including cybersecurity and transportation security. Claffey has also worked in both chambers of Congress: in the House as Communications Director for the House Committee on Homeland Security, and in the Senate as spokeswoman for the Senate Intelligence Community and as Communications Director for Senator Saxby Chambliss of Georgia. An Augusta, Georgia native, Claffey holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Georgia, as well as a Master of Professional Studies in Public Relations and Corporate Communications from Georgetown University.
“We’re very excited to have Lauren joining us at HPS,” said HPS partner Stuart Siciliano. “Lauren brings valuable expertise in both domestic and international public policy issues, and her understanding of complex corporate communications will help us advise our clients on a breadth of issue areas.”
Lloyd Miller joins HPS from Delve LLC, where he was Vice President of Technology and Talent. At Delve, he built technological tools to automate processes and analyze large data sets in addition to overseeing the training and development of a team of research analysts. Previously, he worked in research, media monitoring, and rapid response roles for several campaigns, including former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty’s presidential campaign and Meg Whitman’s gubernatorial campaign. Miller has worked for 12 years in competitive intelligence, web application development, and data engineering for campaigns, corporations, and nonprofit organizations across the U.S., Europe, Southeast Asia, and South America. Originally from California, Miller graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in political science and history.
“Lloyd’s extensive experience in data analysis will add to our firm’s technical aptitude,” said Siciliano. “His thorough understanding of process automation will enhance our internal capabilities as we continue to apply our analytical focus to pressing economic, political, and legal issues.”
