Valerie Lundeen is an analyst at Hamilton Place Strategies, where she works with a diverse range of clients to implement data-driven communications strategies.
Before joining HPS, Valerie researched economic and environmental crises and their potential solutions at the UNC Department of Public Policy and Carolina Population Center. Her research focused on cash transfers in sub-Saharan Africa; she also studied clean cookstoves in Zambia, hurricanes in eastern North Carolina, and the COVID-19 crisis across North Carolina. In the non-profit sector, Valerie spent over three years as a freelance copywriter and editor at Opportunity International and other organizations. She also served as an Advocate at the Community Empowerment Fund in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where she worked alongside people experiencing homelessness or unemployment to achieve financial independence.
Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Valerie graduated with highest honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she studied economics, public policy, and journalism and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
