Mariel Messier is a senior associate at Hamilton Place Strategies, where she develops strategic and crisis communications initiatives and analyzes public policy. She works with a variety of corporate and nonprofit clients with a focus on issues related to environmental, social, and governance and financial services.
Before joining HPS, Mariel worked at Keybridge Communications, where she conducted research on education and health care policy and provided strategic communications support. Mariel also worked at Tandem Sports + Entertainment, where she helped develop and execute media strategies for the agency’s NBA and NFL clients.
Originally from Bedford, VA, Mariel graduated with high distinction from the Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy at the University of Virginia. She earned a B.A. in Public Policy and Media Studies and traveled abroad to Dominica to study social entrepreneurship in small developing island-states. While at UVA, she served as the Sports Editor of The Cavalier Daily, where she led the sports staff, managed content in digital and print, and reported on multiple Division I sports.
