Strategic Advisor to C-Suite
Jim David is a partner at Hamilton Place Strategies. A leader of the firm’s transaction and special situation practices, Jim advises clients on their most important public priorities, including M&A advocacy, litigation, crises, and regulatory matters. Jim also leads the development and implementation of profile-raising programs, and often represents clients in high-stakes interactions with media. Over the course of his career, he has worked across all industries, notably telecommunications, financial services, alternative asset management, and healthcare.
Having advised on dozens of M&A transactions, Jim specializes in public affairs strategies for complex regulatory approval processes, including deals involving DOJ, FTC, CFIUS, and state-level reviews. As part of this work, he leads teams in strategic message development, third-party engagement, rapid response, digital strategy, and media relations, among other campaign disciplines.
Prior to joining HPS, Jim was a managing director at Kekst and Company in New York, where he worked with Fortune 500 companies, alternative asset managers, and others on M&A, activist shareholder, bankruptcy, and crisis assignments.
Jim has a Ph.D. in history from the College of William and Mary and a B.A. magna cum laude from Boston College, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He is the author of Dunmore’s New World (University of Virginia Press), a book about the British Empire in the era of the American Revolution focused on the last royal governor of Virginia.
