Brandon Velez is an associate at Hamilton PlaceStrategies, where he assists an array of clients in developing communications strategies to best meet their policy priorities.
Prior to joining HPS, Brandon’s first communications experience was in speechwriting. While interning at West Wing Writers (WWW), a speechwriting and strategy firm, he heavily supported the firm in their speechwriting practice researching and drafting multiple keynotes for a wide variety of high-profile public and private-sector clients. Before WWW, Brandon was a government affairs intern for Volkswagen Group of America. While at Volkswagen, he worked closely with the government affairs team analyzing the impact of potential transportation regulations on the company’s strategic goals. He also interned in the District Office of Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), where he worked with the Constituent Liaison Team, assisting Connecticut residents experiencing difficulties with various federal agencies.
While in college, Brandon was a research assistant with the Center for Effective Lawmaking, a non-partisan organization that utilizes a data-driven approach to study the causes and consequences of each Congressional member’s ability to advance agenda items through the legislative process. He worked on multiple research projects relating to how members of Congress can effectively leverage their personal and professional experiences to advance their policy priorities.
A proud Northeasterner, Brandon is originally from Norwalk, CT. He graduated from the University of Virginia’s Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy, where he earned a bachelor’s in Public Policy. He is a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, a national leadership honor society.
