Creating a campaign to celebrate Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry’s centenial birthday and his legacy of innovation, inclusion, and hope.
The Foundation wanted to mark this milestone with a global campaign to highlight all the positivity that perserveres. Only by imagining a better world will we be able to create it.
HPS created campaign ideas, ultimately building upon the inspiration of the Golden Record to ask for submissions from people everywhere to share what gives them hope for the next 100 years. We developed a campaign name, website, social strategy, and an animated video.

Our first phase explored three campaign themes for a global campaign that celebrated the Foundation’s goals and stayed true to their mission. Each option paid tribute to Star Trek and incorporated a philanthropic tie-in. Our final choice, The Boldly Go Campaign, evolved from the Roddenberry Record.
The final brand guidelines included the logo mark, lockup, typography, color, and application across a variety of experiences. Additionally, we provided a range of variations for use across mini campaigns and contests to maintain campaign support and novelty over its duration.
Using the galaxy theme and illustration style, we produced a 60-second explainer video for the The Roddenberry Foundation that brought the meaning of the campaign to life through voiceover and evocative footage.
The Boldly Go website takes audiences through the galaxy themed campaign with opportunities to submit, view other submissions, and learn about the Roddenberry Foundation.
