May 18, 2021
In this installment of the new HPS Insights special series on health disparities and minority health, in partnership with the Rare Disease Diversity Coalition (RDDC), HPS Partner Stacy Kerr and Tammy Boyd of the Black Women’s Health Imperative are joined by Dr. Sana Syed, Health Policy and Advocacy Director of the American Muslim Health Professionals. Dr. Syed discusses the work being done to improve healthcare access in Muslim communities and beyond—both before and during COVID-19—and to address the bias embedded in healthcare delivery, including medical training and diagnostic tools. Dr. Syed shares insights from her research on representation in clinical trials, as well as what groups across the medical profession can do to better serve the diverse Muslim population.
